The following has been extracted for OptimumVoice's
website!
Optimum Voice Service Limitations:
A. Service outages: Optimum Voice service does not have its
own power supply and will not work in a power outage or if broadband
connection is disrupted or not operating . Additionally, the Optimum
Voice modem is electrically powered. In the event of power outages,
the modem, including all phones and services connected to or powered
by it, will not work. Power outages will disrupt Enhanced 911 service,
and the use of Optimum Voice as the connection between a home security
system and/or emergency medical alert system and central monitoring
services.
B. Home security systems and medical
alert systems: Optimum Voice may not be compatible with home
security systems or medical alter systems that are set up to make
automatic phone calls to a central monitoring station. Subscriber
understands and agrees that Cablevision does not guarantee that
Optimum Voice will function as the connection between a home security
or emergency medical alert system and the central monitoring service.
Cablevision will not connect Optimum Voice to any home security
or emergency medical alert system and will not provide technical
support for any such connection. In the event of a power outage,
the Optimum Voice modem and all services attached to it, including
centrally monitored home security services, will not work.
C. Limitations on international calling and operator
assisted calls: Currently, direct dial international long distance,
certain operator assisted services such as busy line verification,
busy line interruption and operator assisted calling (including
person-to-person and station-to-station calling), dial around services
(10-10-XXX), 900 services, 976 services, collect calling and third-party
billing are not offered with the Optimum Voice service.
To dial internationally, Optimum Voice recommends
using a calling card, credit card or prepaid card.
